Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is
Alvin Leung and I am studying to be a Chemical Engineer at Michigan State
University. Coming from a big city like San Francisco, I have noticed and observed
that many people are very aware how our environment is being effected by our
actions. Living in San Francisco all my life, it has pushed me to purse a
degree in chemical engineering with a focus on renewable energy. The reason I
chose to be a chemical engineer is to learn more about different ways renewable
energy is being harnessed and really apply the skills that I will learn into
the field. These four years at MSU will really push me to my limits on earning
my degree. I consider myself a very hard working person who strives to do his
best in everything, whether it is in school or in sports.
Although I am able to do well in many
aspects of school, writing has not been a strong part of my academic career. I
have a difficult time getting my ideas across to the audience and allowing the
paper to flow as smoothly as possible. I hope that through this writing class
and my consistent posts on this blog, it will help me expand my writing skills.
The consistent writing throughout the semester will give me the confidence to
write more exquisitely and portray the messages in my essays to the target
audience. Being able to communicate my
thoughts in a concise fashion is key for me to be able to write well.
Through the journey of this course I
plan to go and explore more in depth, about the world of chemical engineering
focusing primarily on the aspect of renewable energy. I chose to focus on
renewable energy because right now in our global economy this is a very hot
topic. People everywhere are looking for ways to slow down global warming and trying
to find new sources of energy. This profession really intrigues me because it
really makes me think of what are some different ways I can be able to
contribute to the overall well being of this planet in the future. With this
blog I hope to be able to explore of how chemical engineers think and see how
they approach the ideas of renewable energy in different ways. My goal is to
relay their ideas and actions to all of the readers of my blog. Hopefully
giving everyone a better sense of what is going on in the world of chemical
engineering.
